McGinnis Chen Associates is a Bay Area based architectural and engineering consulting firm specializing in building enclosure design and performance. We are known for our expertise in façade systems, roofing, waterproofing, air barriers, and all other building enclosure systems for a broad variation of building types. We offer a wide range of services include building enclosure design, peer review, construction administration, forensic investigation, remedial design, property condition assessments, historic preservation and many others. Our team partners with architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners to ensure the highest levels of enclosure integrity, durability, and performance.

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager/Architect to join our team. Our ideal candidate is motivated and proactive with significant experience in waterproofing of various building enclosure systems. This is a unique opportunity to lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate on many different enclosure systems across new construction and restoration projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of building enclosure consulting projects from inception through completion.
  • Oversee project team members, providing leadership, feedback, technical guidance, and quality control.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, ensure scope, schedule, deliverables, and budget stay on track.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, technical reports, field reports, and drawings related to all enclosure systems.
  • Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, performance testing, and construction administration.
  • Coordinate with multiple team members including architects, engineers, owners and contractors.
  • Contribute to the development of internal processes, best practices, and staff development.
  • Help maintain client relations and business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, architecture, or related industry.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership directly supervising, training and mentoring team members
  • Strong technical knowledge of building enclosure systems, materials, and performance.
  • Professional licensure (RA, PE) and/or relevant certifications (e.g., IIBEC Credentials, CSI, CPHC) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong team builder
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Construction Contract Administration experience
  • Proficiency with relevant software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Ability to drive to various project sites as required.

Salary and Benefits

The base annual salary for this full-time position typically ranges between $100,000 to $140,000. Actual salary will vary and is based on several factors including consideration for Candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
