GAST ARCHITECTS is an established, well-respected, eleven-person firm in San Francisco’s SOMA district that focuses on both new construction and renovations of custom, high-end residential projects in the Bay Area and beyond. In addition, we initially pay for 50% of ARE exam fees and then reimburse the remaining 50% upon licensure. In the last 5 years, two of our designers have become registered architects and another is taking exams now.

Our growing office is looking for a person with design talent and technical savvy to work with our principals and project architects to develop innovative designs in a collaborative project team work environment. Applicants should be able to show skill and experience, or the willingness to learn the following:

• Experience and deep interest in single family residential design, Type V wood-frame construction, residential products, and detailing. Actual construction experience is a plus.
• Demonstrate creative critical thinking and presentation skills
• BIM proficiency in 2-D drafting and 3-D modeling (we are an ArchiCAD office and will provide new designers who have BIM experience with significant training in the software)
• Experience in developing well-detailed Construction Documents as part of a team
• Knowledge of codes and regulations. Local experience in San Francisco is highly valued, but not expected.
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Personable, a team player with high integrity and a sense of humor
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous internship experience

This position is full time and upon reaching proficiency in ArchiCAD, there is flexibility to work from home Mondays & Fridays. You must be a U.S. citizen or have a work permit.
