Position Description
The Designer III assumes a key role in the development, production and coordination of design documentation. They collaborate in the design of specific project components while continuing to support the overall design and project documentation needed throughout the course of a project.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and contributes to design, permit, and construction documentation, ensuring
    that all deliverables meet the firm’s standards
  • Manages consultant correspondence and drawing set coordination with some oversight
  • Attends and/or may lead some client presentations / meetings
  • Has good understanding of construction materials and selects materials
  • Typically works on 1-2 primary projects
  • Knows office policies, drafting standards, project communications
  • Focus on mastering how a CD set is put together and supporting CA
  • Ensures personal and team contributions are efficient and within the defined project
    scope, minimizing revisions and delays
  • Knows permitting process and basic codes
  • Ensures design deliverables align with project scope, budget, and timelines

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Architecture
  • 3-5 years minimum of professional, high-end residential experience
  • Non-licensed and close to licensure
  • Excellent ability to design, draw, model and communicate visually
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive, organized, and collaborative with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated skill in 3D modeling/BIM software and 2D drafting (ArchiCAD preferred,
    but not required)
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience is preferred
  • Technical knowledge of Type V construction preferred
  • Knowledge of San Francisco codes is a plus
