Project Architect & Designer (Studio Skaggs Kennedy)

Studio Skaggs Kennedy is looking for a highly motivated and talented Project Architect & Designer with 7+ years of experience to join our studio! S_SK is a Berkeley, California based design practice for architecture and urbanism which has won multiple awards. We are located in a light filled studio in south Berkeley with its own outdoor space and is walkable from Ashby BART.

We are a design-oriented architecture firm with a wide variety of challenging projects, including single-family & multi-family residential, mixed-use commercial, restaurant and civic. We encourage concept ideas by all team members throughout the design process.

The Project Architect will work on all phases of projects, from conceptual design to construction administration. Ideal candidates for this position would have formal architectural training, exceptional design sense, strong graphic skills, sound technical skills, great communication skills and a deep understanding of all project phases. This position is perfect for someone who likes variety and able to prioritize workload, often working on multiple projects at a time. This is a full time position and currently employees work in the office 4 days and remotely 1 day per week.

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in architecture, Licensed Architect a plus
  • Over 7 years of professional experience including leadership in CA
  • Experience in all phases of design/project delivery including scheduling, budgeting, design, permitting, construction documents, and construction administration
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, and comprehensive understanding of entitlements process
  • Knowledge of construction practices and technical detailing
  • Collaborative and proactive studio member who has ability to mentor and direct junior staff
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering, preferably in SketchUp, Enscape, Rhino, & Twin Motion
  • This position requires applicants to be currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area and authorized to work in the United States.
