RESPONSIBILITIES

A successful Junior-Intermediate Architect will demonstrate mounting technical knowledge and creative vision while working independently or with minimal oversight in hospitality-focused renovation and new build projects. Under the guidance of a Senior Architect, Director or Principal in Charge, they will contribute to the development of concepts and exploration of design solutions throughout all phases of a project—from concept design through construction administration. The ideal candidate exhibits a strong sense of responsibility and accountability while embracing open communication and a collaborative, team-driven approach to project success.

Proficient Architect, with supervision:

  • Conducts research for and participates in meetings with city officials to understand the planning, permitting and building process.
  • Under the direction of Senior Architect or PIC, prepares documentation required for City or County Planning Approval
  • Proactively coordinates with multiple disciplines within the consultant team (including but not limited to Lighting, MEP and Structural) to ensure coordination and delivery of comprehensive project documentation
  • With direction, prepares test fits or floor plan options for renovations or new build restaurants, cafes, hotel guestrooms, public areas and commercial spaces at schematic level
  • Proactively participates in developing design solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges. Expresses those through sketches, drawings and 3D studies to convey design intent for Client presentations
  • With direction, assists in preparation of project manual and specifications
  • Under the direction of Senior Architect or PIC, prepares documentation for Pricing Sets, Building and Health Submittals, Bid and IFC -Drawings and exhibits technical competence in construction documentation and detailing
  • Reviews and participates in preparation of the “comments and corrections” from governing agencies in order to obtain a permit from each of the aforementioned jurisdictions
  • Exhibits competency and working knowledge of building codes, accessibility guidelines, firm standards, building materials and construction, and building structures
    With supervision, participates in the bidding process by providing responses to RFIs and prepares Addendum Drawings based on General Contractor inquires
  • With limited supervision, attends and documents site visits, correctly processes submittals, provides appropriate responses to substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction

Developing Project Manager/ Rising Team Leader:

  • Proficiently engages in client correspondence, clearly communicating (written and verbal) project progress, needs and issues.
  • Showcases professionalism in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors and internal staff
  • Shows clear understanding of and adheres to project scope of work documents, differentiation documents and project schedules
  • Attends team meetings and monitors individual deliverables against task lists and the project contract
  • Reviews weekly staffing, completes work and makes adjustment based on deliverable progress
  • Completes work within allocated time and/or notifies senior staff as needed. Meets key milestones and deadlines consistently.
  • Provides direction to junior staff on daily appropriate design solutions, materials and details that meet project appropriateness
  • Under the direction of the others, participates in design presentations to clients, effectively communicating vision, programming, and design details

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-6 years experience in Arcsine-related client sectors: hospitality design (hotel, bar, nightclub, restaurant), workplace, multi-family, and mixed-use.
  • Experience in senior living and wellness sectors is a plus
  • BA or MA in Architecture from an accredited program
  • California Architects Board License or Accreditation in process preferred
  • Demonstrated software proficiency including AutoCAD, Revit and Sketch Up
  • Ability to sketch and draw by hand preferred
  • Additional 3D modeling/rendering and graphics software proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and effectively meet deadlines

A junior/intermediate architect needs to be able to preform computer tasks and attend and participate in project meetings in the office. They would also be required to visit project job sites in various states of construction. Taking measurements and physically evaluating existing conditions would also be expected. Construction sites can be expected to have uneven surfaces for walking, obstacles to navigate around, and machinery and traffic to be mindful of.
