Project Designer / Architectural Staff I (3-5 years) (Edmonds + Lee Architects)

Job Board,

About Us:

We are a design-focused architecture and interior design practice working across a diverse range of project types and scales, from highly crafted single-family residences and interiors to larger multifamily and mixed-use projects. Our work approaches architecture and interiors as an integrated design process, with equal attention given to space, materiality, furnishings, detailing, and the experience of the built environment.

Across all our work, we share a commitment to thoughtful design, material exploration, technical rigor, and the quality of execution at every scale. Our work has been recognized nationally and internationally for its approach to contemporary architecture and interiors and for creating spaces that are refined, cohesive, and responsive to their surroundings.

We are looking for someone with a strong design sensibility who is equally interested in developing the technical knowledge required to carry good ideas through documentation and construction.

About the Position:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Project Designer / Architectural Staff I with 3–5 years of professional experience to join our San Francisco studio. This position aligns with the experience level of AIA Architectural Staff Level I (non-licensed) and is ideal for a designer who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility within a small, highly collaborative practice.

As a small studio, our staff work directly alongside the firm's principals and project leaders. We believe that the informal exchange of ideas, drawing reviews, desk critiques, and day-to-day collaboration that happen in person are an important part of professional development and mentorship. As a result, this is a full-time, in-person position in our San Francisco office, five days per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Work directly with principals and project leaders throughout multiple phases of a project
  • Contribute to schematic design and design development
  • Develop design studies through drawings and 3D models
  • Produce construction documents and architectural details
  • Prepare client presentations and visualizations
  • Research materials, products, and precedents
  • Coordinate with consultants
  • Participate in site visits and construction administration

Qualifications:

  • Strong design sensibility demonstrated through a thoughtful visual portfolio
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in an architectural practice
  • Professional degree in architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch preferred)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Self-motivated, curious, detail-oriented, and receptive to design critique
  • The ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of individual assignments
  • Revit experience is a plus but not required
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Compensation & Benefits:

We provide competitive salaries and benefits, including paid vacation and holidays, medical, dental, 401(k), profit sharing, and reimbursement for professional development.

How to Apply

We are particularly interested in seeing work that demonstrates design thinking, graphic communication, and the candidate's individual contributions to professional projects. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and selected work samples in PDF format to jobs@edmondslee.com.
