MAP Strategies (MAPS) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing San Francisco Bay Area Strategic Planning team. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of experience in permit expediting, permit management, entitlement coordination, architecture, construction, or development, with demonstrated experience navigating permitting in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.

This is a client-facing role for a highly organized, proactive professional who can manage multiple projects, coordinate with agencies and project teams, and develop strategies that keep approvals aligned with design and construction schedules.

MAPS is a nationally recognized architectural management and development consulting firm specializing in permitting, code consulting, entitlement strategy, and regulatory coordination.
We work with developers, architects, contractors, institutions, and corporate clients on medium to large and major development projects throughout the United States. Our role is to simplify complex approval processes, identify risk early, and help projects move efficiently from planning through construction.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated permitting experience in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area
  • Strong knowledge of municipal review and approval processes
  • Experience working with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, urban planning, real estate, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage permitting and entitlement efforts for multiple projects
  • Develop project-specific approval strategies and schedules
  • Coordinate with San Francisco and Bay Area agencies
  • Identify submission requirements, sequencing, timelines, and potential risks
  • Lead coordination with clients, design teams, consultants, and contractors
  • Track agency reviews, comments, approvals, and critical milestones
  • Prepare clear project updates, schedules, and client communications

Desired Experience

  • Direct experience with the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection and other local agencies
  • Experience permitting projects in surrounding Bay Area jurisdictions
  • Medium- to large-scale commercial, residential, mixed-use, institutional, or infrastructure project experience
  • Strong client management and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with building codes, zoning, planning, and entitlement requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Software Proficiency
  • Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro and/or Bluebeam
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Salesforce, Smartsheet, or similar project management and CRM platforms

$90-110K. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
