Internship (AIASF)

Position Available: Internship, title TBD based on interest in gallery work, visitor services, and community engagement.

Location: 140 Sutter St. San Francisco, CA.

Hours: 15-18 hours per week for one month, depending on availability.

Stipend: $1,200 and university elective credit.

The American Institute of Architects, San Francisco (AIASF) is a 501(c)6 nonprofit membership business-league organization dedicated to upholding the character and advancing the integrity of the built environment in the San Francisco Bay Area. In partnership with the Center for Architecture + Design (Center), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, AIASF serves our local community through exceptional programming and advocacy initiatives that elevate public discourse about architecture and design.

Duties: 

  • Projects will be assigned based on intern’s experience and interest in topics such as gallery research and curation, architecture, design, events preparation and hosting, and community engagement.  
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors at the Center’s front desk.
  • Provide general information about AIASF and Center programs, events, and membership.
  • Greet and assist guests to the Center and gallery.
  • Ensure the gallery is well maintained and provides a positive visitor experience. 
  • Attend and assist with onsite events hosted by AIA and the Center.

Qualification Requirements: 

  • Full-time student currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a four-or-five-year degree program from an accredited university.
  • Interest and/or coursework in architecture, design, marketing, museums, art, or another related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and on time.
