Tour: UC Law – Academe at 198 & Cotchett Law Center

Category: AIASF Knowledge Communities

Join us for an exclusive, tour of UC Law San Francisco's Academe at 198 and the Cotchett Law Center. These recent additions to the UC Law campus are central to the university’s vision of creating an Academic Village — a cohesive, community-focused environment that strengthens campus identity while contributing positively to the surrounding Tenderloin, Mid-Market, and Civic Center neighborhoods.

Led by members of the UC Law leadership, this tour will explore how these two projects address critical issues of student experience, campus integration, and urban revitalization in a dense city setting.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the tour, participants will be able to:

  1. Evaluate how Academe at 198 and the Cotchett Law Center address student wellness and safety through design elements that enhance natural light, air quality, and visibility in shared spaces.
  2. Analyze strategies used to integrate new construction into an existing urban campus fabric, including transitions between academic, residential, and civic zones.
  3. Examine how the projects contribute to neighborhood revitalization and public realm activation through ground-level design and community-oriented programming.
  4. Identify accessible design features that ensure equitable use by all students, staff, and visitors, in compliance with ADA and universal design principles.
