LAURIE OLIN, FASLA, PARTNER, OLIN
Laurie is a distinguished teacher, author, and one of the most renowned landscape architects practicing today. From vision to realization, he has guided many of OLIN’s signature projects, including the Washington Monument Grounds in Washington, DC to Bryant Park in New York City and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. His recent projects include the award-winning Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Apple Park in Cupertino.
Laurie studied civil engineering at the University of Alaska and architecture at the University of Washington. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and former chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University. Laurie is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and recipient of the 2012 National Medal of Arts, the Vincent Scully Prize from the National Building Museum.

Excited by cities’ multiculturalism and social dynamics, Michael embraces the notion of plurality in open space – from the garden to urban design scales. Through his work, he investigates how to bring meaning to public space to push against growing trends in globalism and banality. Originally from Philadelphia, Michael received his BS in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University and subsequently studied under Laurie Olin at University of Pennsylvania's School of Design. Since moving to the Bay Area, he has since become a Principal at Hood Design Studio, wherehe leads the design process on projects such as McColl Park in Charlotte, California’s Charles Drew University, Washington D.C.’s AIA National Headquarters, and London’s Barbican Centre, bringing to life tales of present and past occupants. Michael takes pride in spotlighting overlooked voices through projects like MacGregor Park in Houston, The Peter Oliver Pavilion Gallery and Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park.
RICHARD NEILL
Richard Neill is a photographer, filmmaker, and curator of the 2025 CA+D Film Series. As the founding director of Adventure Pictures, his work is focused on architecture, design and climate adaptation for a wide range of clients that include JCFO, the National Building Museum, and The Nature Conservancy. A former Board member of CA+D, he has curated and produced many Center programs on climate resiliency, sustainability, and indigenous architecture.
His photography and video work has been broadcast on PBS, National Geographic, Discovery Channels, and European broadcasters Arte, ZDF, and ORF, and is included in the permanent collections of MAK Vienna, the City of Seattle, Polaroid Corporation, Fabric Museum & Workshop, and numerous private collections. He studied architecture and history at Princeton University and received an M.F.A. from the University of Washington.
