Film Series Screening: Schindler Space Architect
Come discover the story of a man who built the future before the world was ready.
The second film in the CA+D Film Series, Schindler Space Architect, celebrates the life and work of one of architecture’s modernist visionaries, Austrian-born architect R.M. Schindler. Featuring an inspired narration by Meryl Streep, documentary filmmaker Valentina Ganeva adeptly weaves together the personal and professional threads of Schindler’s life that led to his radical reimagining of the idea of home. Interviews with Frank Gehry, Thom Mayne, Steven Holl, and other renowned architects reveal how Schindler’s original concepts of architecture and nature helped lay the foundation for the California modernist style.
"Schindler Space Architect" will be introduced by Film Series Curator Richard Neill. After the screening, Director Valentina Ganeva will join us for a conversation and Q&A with Ethen Wood, Associate Director of Sustainable Architecture + Engineering at Stanford University.
Movie theater concessions will be provided to enjoy during the screening.
