Beyond the Model: Connecting Design Data Across the Project Lifecycle

Architecture and design teams create an enormous amount of valuable project information, but that information can become fragmented as a project moves from design and documentation through construction administration, fabrication, construction, and operations. The result is often duplicated effort, disconnected workflows, and project knowledge that becomes difficult to access or reuse.

This session explores how design teams can think beyond the individual model or application and develop more connected approaches to project information. Attendees will examine the different types of data created throughout the project lifecycle, identify common points where information is lost or recreated, and explore practical strategies for maintaining greater continuity between design, coordination, project administration, construction, and building operations.

Through real-world workflow examples, the session will demonstrate how more intentional use of project data can improve collaboration, reduce redundant effort, and extend the value of information created during design well beyond project handoff.
