San Francisco State University’s West Campus Green marks a transformative step in campus development and project delivery. This moderated panel brings together leaders from the owner, general contractor, architect, structural engineer, and design-build trade contractors to share perspectives on alternate delivery models that enabled this ambitious project.

Delivering 750+ modern student beds alongside a robust dining venue and comprehensive student health center, West Campus Green set a new standard for student experience and institutional ambition. Achieving “heads in beds” by the start of the 2025 academic term was mission-critical, driving the fast-track schedule and innovative financing approach that blended state bonds, capital campaign funds, and strategic grants.

The discussion will explore how project drivers including schedule sensitivity, cost certainty, operational coordination, and campus integration shaped the delivery strategy. Panelists will walk through their collaboration from early planning through preconstruction, sharing lessons learned and practical strategies for success in complex, high-stakes environments.
