Role Description

The Studio Director is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing and managing a high-performing team of architects and interior designers focused on resort, recreation, and hospitality projects. This position requires an experienced and innovative professional with strong leadership skills, a proven ability to mentor staff, and a deep understanding of both design excellence and business operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision and direction for the studio while driving growth, team performance, and exceptional project delivery. This position must also be comfortable in a client-facing role, representing the firm with professionalism and expertise.

Responsibilities & Core Competencies

  • Provide strategic vision, leadership, and creative direction for the studio
  • Mentor and develop staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring adherence to firm standards and best practices
  • Manage and strengthen client relationships, ensuring consistent, high-quality service
  • Build and maintain professional networks with industry leaders and partners
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring design excellence, technical rigor, and alignment with client goals
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the studio’s portfolio
  • Establish clear expectations and provide guidance while promoting collaboration and accountability
  • Ensure brand consistency and continuity across design and technical execution
  • Serve as liaison between the Principal and the Studio

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Licensed architect with 20+ years of professional experience, including significant leadership responsibilities; Bachelor’s or Master of Architecture degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Exceptional people management, project management, design, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of Revit workflows
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, including budgeting, staffing, and project planning
  • Skilled at inspiring teams and nurturing a positive, design-driven work environment
  • Proven experience managing teams and delivering large-scale projects in resort, recreation, and hospitality sectors (preferred)
  • Strong business development skills with the ability to generate new opportunities and maintain client trust
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance creative vision with operational and financial objectives
