Position Overview

GLS is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in architecture and/or landscape architecture to join our multi-disciplinary team in a leadership role. The ideal candidate is proficient in architectural and/or landscape design, facile in graphic communication and detailing, and has a strong track record of managing projects, client relationships, workflows, schedules, and staff. A professional license is a plus but not required; we welcome candidates with demonstrated experience and a genuine interest in the intersection of landscape and architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead design efforts through all phases, from programming and concept design through construction administration.
  • Establish design intent through internal collaboration and develop graphic presentations.
  • Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors; create exceptional communication and collaboration.
  • Lead project meetings and manage client relationships while maintaining design integrity, staffing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Manage project fees and staffing; develop construction documents; oversee details, specifications, and construction administration.
  • Collaborate with other project managers to advance design standards and ensure quality control.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of team members through technical guidance, review, and delegation.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building and landscape technology, systems, and sustainable design practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field. Dual degrees or combined backgrounds are strongly encouraged.
  • 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects through all phases of design and construction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Revit is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas verbally, freehand, and digitally.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and project management communication skills.
  • Experience managing studio teams and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and redline work products and project deliverables.
  • Experience with construction administration digital platforms for reviewing RFIs and submittals.
  • Solid understanding of California landscape materials and specifications; basic knowledge of planting design and grading is a plus.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and collaborative workflows.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Professional license in architecture or landscape architecture is a plus, but not required.
  • LEED Accreditation is a plus.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
