JUNIOR DESIGNER JOB DESCRIPTION
Ana Williamson Architects is an award winning, design oriented architectural practice located in downtown Menlo Park specializing in custom single-family residential projects. The ideal applicant for this Junior Designer position will possess an enthusiastic attitude and inhabit a belief that collaborative creativity is a critical component of successful projects. For 30 years we have worked hand in hand with great clients, trusted contractors, and long partnering consultants to bring sketches into reality. With many exciting projects in the queue we’re looking for a creative, resourceful Junior Designer to join us and be a vital part of our small, passionate team. Your role in the practice will include dedicated time working on 3-5 projects under the supervision of senior staff with additional projects as deadlines demand. You will take initiative and maintain oversight of tasks as they are assigned and coordinate with other team members to develop projects and meet deadlines. Job responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Principal and senior staff to develop both new construction and residential remodels
- Take initiative, oversee, and work within small teams to define and meet deadlines, budgets, and project design goals
- Assist with project correspondence, including coordination with consultants and clients
- Production of the BIM model, as-built drawings, presentation drawings/renderings/physical models, and permit/construction drawings
- Assist with research of codes, materials, and new construction methods
- Assist with marketing and promotional materials
- Ability to multi-task and assist on multiple projects in a fast paced office environment
Qualifications Include:
- Professional Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Architecture required
- At least 1 year of experience in an architecture office required
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with team members
- Strong written and graphic communication skills
- Hand sketching and physical model-making abilities
- ArchiCad experience preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
Terms of employment:
- Full Time– approximately 40 hours a week with at least 3 days a week in office
- Ideal candidates to be located in close proximity to Menlo Park (or be willing to relocate to the Peninsula)
Further terms will be spelled out via contract to be signed upon commencing employment but include: compensation commensurate with experience, medical coverage, paid time off, 401K plan with employer match, and support for continuing education and professional exams.
