Key Points in Firestopping will outline what firestop is and how it is installed using a UL system. The course will cover code specific language and give attendees numerous examples of major issues related to firestop applications as well a variety of installation options for compliant firestop.

About the Presenter

Keith Sanford is a Field Engineer with Specified Technologies Inc. (STI) who works with design professionals to make firestopping easy and limit clients’ liability through documentation excellence. Keith is a PE (Professional Engineer) who believes in the importance of firestopping, a belief that solidified after a personal experience in the aftermath of a major fire.

For nearly 30 years, he has worked with two of the largest firestop manufacturers in the world, both in the US and abroad, excelling in positions from territory salesman, field engineer and technical service manager to product manager, global marketing manager, and director of business development. These roles took him throughout the US and Canada, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, India, and the Pacific Rim.

Keith holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University and an MBA from the Meinders School of Business at the University of Oklahoma. He was a founding member of IFC (International Firestop Council) and served 2 years as President. He is a member of CSI and became a CCPR – Certified Construction Products Representative.
