As a busy firm principal, we know that marketing your firm can be critical to your success. This web page details a variety of ways to market your firm and reach potential clients and partners through your AIA membership. 1) Membership Directory:
Included with your membership is a firm listing in our online Membership Directory. In order to set up your profile, have a representative contact Graziela Camacho at gcamacho@aiasf.org with your firm principal's name and their AIA member number. We will send you a login and password to use when setting up your profile. Your final profile will appear in the searchable 'Find a Professional' web directory at www.aiasf.org/Find_a_Professional.htm in the appropriate subsection (AIA Firms or Associate + Allied Firms).
It is the responsibility of each firm to keep their profile updated – if your address has changed you should notify the AIA Membership department at 1-800-242-3837. Members also have the option to add a logo and an image of a project for $25.00 per item. Contact Graziela Camacho at gcamacho@aiasf.org for more information on your profile, or to obtain your login information.
Note: AIA San Francisco is committed to sustainable business practices including reducing the use of paper. For this reason, and since we have received few requests from the public for the print version of our directory, the annual print firm directory has been discontinued.
2) Small Firms, Great Projects:
This highly-popular annual magazine is a great way for firms with less than 20 people to reach potential customers. The Deadline for submissions is June 2008, and the magazine is available to the public in September. We distribute thousands of copies at the Architecture and the City festival, during the Home Tours weekend, at trade shows such as Dwell on Design, and in our office.
3) Design Awards:
Our annual Design Awards program is a great way for firms of all types to participate and get recognition for their work. Winning entries are displayed in an annual exhibition in the AIA San Francisco Gallery, and the boards are shown during the annual Design Awards Gala, attended by over 500 design industry professionals. Finally, along with being included in the AIA San Francisco website section for Design Awards Winners, winning entries are showcased in magazines such as California Home + Design, Dwell, Sunset, The Architect’s Newspaper, and Western Interiors and Design Magazine.
4) Sponsorship Opportunities:
AIA members receive substantial discounts if they decide to place an advertisement in one of our publications or at an event such as our annual Design Awards party.

- Print-based Sponsorship opportunities: www.aiasf.org/Sponsorship/Publication_Sponsorship_.htm
5) Networking events:
AIA San Francisco regularly hosts over 50 programs, events, and lectures a month in San Francisco and in Marin County.
- AIA member firms: Because we have a supplemental dues program and you pay an annual non-member surcharge, every member of your firm is eligible for the member discount at our in-house events. Just provide a valid member number when signing up online or at the door.
- Allied and Associate firms: Allied memberships are based on the individual; that person is entitled to the local member discount. Allied firms can also take advantage of our new ‘Corporate’ level membership, beginning in January 2008 (or when you receive your renewal invoice). Just $1,000 will guarantee everyone in your firm all member benefits.
You can review upcoming events at: www.aiasf.org/Calendar.htm. Alternatively, you can have yourself added to our event announcement list by e-mailing our Communications Coordinator Helen Wong at hwong@aiasf.org. Contact our Membership & Volunteer Coordinator, Rebecca Evans at revans@aiasf.org if you have any questions or suggestions for other ways we can serve our membership.
