The North Richmond community faces immediate danger in the face of higher storm surge and rising tides due to global warming. Flooding and the subsequent outflow of dirty industrial lowlands compound the environmental risks.

Join Dr. Hope Hui Rising of Washington State University’s Adaptive Water Urbanism Initative (AWUI) at Point San Pablo Harbor for 2 Community Workshops, to learn and develop strategies for dealing with the inevitable.

Both workshops will be held at Point San Pablo Harbor.

At the workshop, participants will engage with local experts and stakeholders in design games, to generate consensus-based design alternatives for mid-term and long-term coastal resilience measures.

The workshops will use Richmond as a test case to provide hands-on planning and design education focused on adaptation and emergency response.
