This hands-on, skill-building workshop will help you reintegrate model-making into your design process. A professional team of model makers will familiarize participants with various model types, materials, tools, as well as construction and rendering methods. Special emphasis will be placed on presenting techniques that are particularly effective for an in-house, office environment.

Comprehensive model-making toolkits will be available. Each participant will be provided with a model kit and take home model-making manual.

9:00 – 9:30 am: Workshop Introduction

9:30 – 11:00 am: Demonstration Session I
Introduction to tools, materials and methods for creating preliminary model-making parts

11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Hands-on Session I
Ask questions and practice techniques

12:00 – 1:00 pm: Lunch

1:00 – 3:00 pm: Demonstration Session II
Focus will be on rendering methods and building additive and decorative façade pieces

3:00 – 3:15 pm: Break

3:15 – 6:00 pm: Hands-on Session II- Case Study
Construct a model of the Eames House (Case Study House No. 8). Participants will be provided with drawings and materials. Staff will engage one-on-one with participants during the fabrication process.
