The entire footprint of the abandoned 1903 Santa Fe Railway serves as this year’s site and participants are asked to develop plans and proposals for this railway vestige that cuts diagonally across the rational “street and building” fabric of the city and burrows deep into Potrero Hill only to surface again at Cesar Chavez and Highway 280. | Kids' Digital Contest © Mason Kirby | | | | All things big and loud: Public Transit in kids eyes NEW DATE! September 18, 11:00 am $10 General Admission per family Starting point: Ferry Building, One Ferry Building, San Francisco Recommended for children ages 5 and up; Kids must be accompanied by an adult. | | Wind Portal, SFO Bart © Ned Kahn | This program aims to bring kids and parents together to express love for Bay Area public transit in the form of models, drawings and poetry. Kids can express their views on moving objects that are usually big and loud: like busses, trains, trolleys, airplanes, boats, etc. These are things that connect them to the city, it’s buildings and people. These things carry their loved ones everyday from home to work and back. The view of the urban environment is very different from the moving frame, when the kids are riding public transit, and this program attempts to capture the emotion felt by their young minds. | | | iSpy Architecture: Photo Scavenger Hunt NEW DATE!
