Citation Award: Day Labor Station

Albert Vecerka

The Day Labor Station is a sustainable structure that aims to improve and facilitate the informal employment process. Replicating how the existing day laborer system operates, the design of the seating area is structured to provide maximum visual contact between workers and potential employers. By providing laborers a more dignified presence in the public realm, the Station and accompanying advocacy initiative elevate the debate about their role within the fabric of the community.
