HAS YOUR MEMBERSHIP LAPSED?
Our membership year runs from January through December. Dues invoices are sent out in early November, and are due by January 31 of the current membership year. (For example, your 2008 payment needs to be received by the National office on or before January 31, 2008.) If you did not receive an invoice for 2008 or your address has changed, please contact the National AIA membership department at 1-800-242-3837 to update your information and request a new invoice and dues rate quote. (If your membership lapsed in 2007 or earlier, you will not be automatically invoiced.)
NOTE: Allied members, Student members, and Component Affiliate members will recieve renewal invoices directly from the AIA San Francisco as your membership type is only with our local chapter. 2008 Invoices will be sent by mail in January 2008, and will be due in February 2008 as noted on the invoices.
Any membership is considered lapsed if you have not paid your annual dues invoice by March 31 of the membership year. AIA-level memberships can also lapse for other reasons, such as not having accumulated enough CES learning units to meet the annual requirements. This is called a "CES Audit" and you will be notified by mail if this applies to you. (If you have questions about the CES Audit process, contact Stacy Williams at swilliams@aiasf.org.)
For all our members, if you do not pay your dues by March 31, 2008, your membership will lapse for non-payment of dues and you will not be invoiced for 2009 unless you pay the 2008 dues to reinstate your membership.
TWO WAYS YOU CAN RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP:
1) Renew through the mail:
If you have your 2008 invoice, send it in as directed with your check or credit card information. If you do not have your invoice or do not know your dues amount for this year, contact the National AIA Membership department at 1-800-242-3837 option #1.
2) Renew Online (AIA and Associate AIA Members only)
If your membership was current in the past year (2007) you will be able to renew online at the National AIA website www.aia.org through March 31st, 2008 when you will be considered lapsed and your login will be deactivated. You will not owe back dues for past years. Note: If you are an AIA member (licensed architect) and lapsed prior to 2006, you need to send a copy of your newest license along with your dues payment.
To renew online, you must know your membership number and have your password. On the AIA National website, select "Renew Your Membership" in the left-hand navigation column. You will be directed to a member login area. The default username is your 8-digit membership/customer I.D. number and the default password is your last name, using appropriate upper and lower case. For any questions about this procedure, contact the AIA National Office membership hotline at 1-800-242-3837 and press option #1.
The AIA San Francisco Membership Services department can assist you with dues amounts or other standard questions, however all fees are processed by the National office. If you have additonal questions about renewing your membership, rejoining the AIA, upgrading, or transferring your membership, contact the AIA National Office membership hotline at 1-800-242-3837 and press option #1.
LAPSED PRINCIPALS- MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY INFORMATION
If your membership has lapsed and you do not contact the AIA SF office to renew your 2008 membership, your firm's web profile in the "Find a Professional" section will become inactive. You can renew at any time throughout the year, by paying your dues invoice or downloading our membership form and sending it to the AIA SF office with payment as noted. It is important to note that you are a 'renewing' member and include your member number on the application. Your web profile will be re-activated when you contact Graziela Camacho at gcamacho@aiasf.org and your renewal funds have been processed.
