SmithGroup has openings in our San Francisco office for intermediate Designers in the Healthcare Interiors Studio. We pursue creative design solutions and creating meaningful, quality environments based on best practices, the latest research and evidence-based design. We focus holistically on the interior environment which includes goal setting, programming, master planning, design and documentation of all aspects of a healthcare environment. Our project types include hospitals, outpatient centers, skilled nursing facilities and specialty care projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate overall interior design concepts; formulate design presentation strategies and make presentations.
  • Develop interior design palettes that respond to project goals
  • Develop interior projects from initial programming and space planning through construction administration and completion
  • Select, budget and specify furnishings
  • Work to project budget and schedules related to interior design component
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior level designers
We are looking for:
  • Client-oriented leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A professional degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture
  • 7-10 years related project experience
  • Experience in Healthcare Interiors preferred
  • Competence with AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch up
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn and use Revit
  • Hold, or working towards, LEED® Accreditation and NCIDQ certification and membership in professional organizations, such as IIDA or AIA is desirable
